Portraits

I help people create beautiful natural portraits of themselves and their families that they will treasure, even if they thought they were unphotoggenic, camera shy or very self conscious.

Though I don’t generally like to blow my own trumpet, (that’s classic British understatement again)  I am pretty good at making people feel relaxed in front of the camera! Arguably, this is one of the photographer’s most important skills.

Anyway I think it’s really important, especially if we are aiming to get relaxed natural, gorgeous looking pictures. I love to work on location, it’s always a lot of fun and something of a creative journey as we discover great light, create the images and then shoot them. It’s really a collaboration, even with kids and teenagers, and most people end up saying how much they actually enjoyed the shoot. We can work in the studio if you prefer, but often I find my client’s homes or a local park offer great shooting opportunities-you just have to know where to look.

Having said all of that, it’s not quite as easy as I make it sound, and a lot of training, practice and considerable investment has gone into all of this which is why I am not the cheapest photographer around. But then again, if you expect fabulous images and first class products (our albums are the same ones used by the Queen apparently) then I am your man!

Testimonials

We are so delighted with the pictures that Jonathan took of us as individuals and as a family. They capture all the things that we love about each other, so they are amazingly personal.
